NWATA CUATS Mentor – Jeffrey Kawaguchi, PT, PhD, ATC jkawaguchi@mail.ewu.edu
Jeff is currently the Program Director for the Athletic Training Program (ATEP) at Eastern Washington University, and has been on staff as a professor since 2003. He has volunteered his time with the US Figure Skating Championships for the past three years and has also been fortunate to work in other unique areas such as Bejing, China and Bratislava, Slovakia for Women’s Basketball National teams. Not only does Jeff have a vast amount of experience to draw from, but he also says: “I have a vested interest in education and matriculation of the Athletic Training Student. My background as a professor in the ATEP program for the past 7 years has also given me a broad understanding of the concerns for the educational process.” Jeff is eager to begin his work as the CUATS Mentor.

Congratulations to Joe Krielkamp who was selected as the 2010 recipient of the Bobby Gunn Leadership Scholarship. With this award, he is eligible to receive up to $500 for travel expenses related to the 2010 NATA Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium in Philadelphia. Joe is the National Student Athletic Training Committee Chair for D10.

NWATA Welcomes Joe as the new committee chair of the National Student Athletic Trainers Committee:
NSATC - Joe Kreilkamp
Joe is currently in the AT program at Eastern Washington University. He has leadership experience as a class president for two years at Cheney High School, and the School Chief of Staff as well. He also was selected as the Inland Northwest Student AT of the Year award his senior year of HS. Now, being centrally located at EWU gives him the opportunity to travel to other D10 schools if necessary to meet with fellow AT students. Joe says “…as the D10 NATSC representative, I understand that I would be the voice for the Athletic Training students of District 10 and bring input to the committee. The NATSC will allow me the opportunity to bring national issues back to the students of this district and meet and collaborate with other students from around the country discussing ideas and goals for District 10.” We are excited to add Joe to this position!
